Last week I was laying in my bed at my moms house in Colombia. At about 8 in the morning I felt my bed shake from side to side- I looked over and saw the mirror hanging on the wall was swaying. That's when I realized I had been awoken by an Earth quake. It was a strange phenomena to be awoken that way. Turns out there had been a bigger earthquake about 4 hours away. This interesting experience made me wonder about the various "earthquakes" we can all go through in life; a let down in a relationship, the sudden death of a loved one, losing employment, falling ill. Some earthquakes are strong and create big devastation while others just rock us out of our daily groove. These shorter seismic waves such as dealing with a difficult boss or periodically worrying about money, while subtle can still create a big impact. What I know for sure is that an "earthquake"big or small will always help wake you up to your life. If you are anything like most people I talk to than it's likely that at some point in your life you have felt less than satisfied. Whether it's your job, your relationship, your weight, your finances some thing has been less than what you would like it to be and it's probably frustrating. And if you're like most people you find reasons to continue in that job, in that relationship; in that situation that is unfulfilling until something rocks you fully out of it. This is why it's important to acknowledge every movement that causes you to experience discomfort. The quake of discomfort is there to wake you into the reality that is possible. A reality that only you can design. The next thing I will say is that if you find yourself being aware of the discomfort and not doing anything about it because you don't know what to do (or how to do it) there is only one way to find the answers. The good news is that it's not as hard as you think and it's something that you can start to do immediately. Just like the survivors of earthquakes seek comfort right away you too can access more peace of mind right now. How? Start by choosing just one thing that will help you feel better. If your clothes are tight and uncomfortable grab something that is looser. If your job overwhelms you, take periodic 5 minute breaks to the lounge or even venture outside for a walk. Whenever you feel full of thoughts that create tension, stop and give yourself permission to clear your head. Take 5-10 minutes to do something simple that will help you feel better. That's it.

The more you can raise your mental emotional state the more you can relax. The more you relax the easier it is to notice solutions and opportunities that can support you in creating more peace of mind and satisfaction in your life. As with every crisis, staying calm is crucial to survival. This week practice the art of feeling better. As you take proactive steps so that you can feel good see what happens.
