A Soulful Women's Retreat
AUGUST 5-11, 2017
Your Retreat Facilitators
Monica Aparicio & Melissa Pfluger
Soulful women, modern day witches, and former roomies,
Melissa and Monica, have held ritual circles for women in their
Park Slope, Brooklyn apartment for many years.
Witnessing the magic of conscious creation within sisterhood
they have been inspired to design this retreat for other
soulful women ready to tap into their creative powers to reinvent and redesign their lives.
Together Monica and Melissa bring over 28 years of professional experience in healing work and decades of personal experience
reinventing their lives!
Passionate about supporting others in their evolution, Monica began her own exploration of the psychological and spiritual aspects of healing at the age of 16, graduating as the youngest student in her seminar class, The Jose Silva Mind Body Healing Method.
After experiencing alcohol and substance abuse, depression and divorce in her mid 20's Monica searched for the joy she had lost on the dance floor. Her journey led her from the recovery rooms of AA into the jungles of Peru to work with shamans.
Formally returning to her studies of holistic wellness in 2008, Monica became a certified holistic health coach, a BioDynamic breath work practitioner and a Master Reiki energy healer as well as starting her first company Urban Breath NYC in 2010 . In 2013 Monica founded her current company The Lifestyle Lounge, producing some of the city's best conscious lifestyle and business events for entrepreneurs.
She has led over 100 group workshops in active meditation and Biodynamic breathwork in NYC, including leading workshops at Soul Camp East.
Monica believes that once you give yourself the opportunity to heal you are free to liberate yourself from the confines of unsatisfying situations, such as exhausting jobs, draining relationships, unhealthy habits and poor health. Complete healing is the vehicle that will bring you to your greatest fulfillment and grandest accomplishments.
Monica taught Fine Arts in the New York City public school system for 12 years.
The search for personal balance, openness, transformation and inspiration led Melissa to the yoga mat in 2009. Since then her Immersion in various types of yoga, from kundalini, to vinyasa to hatha, has prepared her to explore the many benefits and positive changes this practice brings.
In the summer of 2016 Melissa dove deeper into her practice, completing the 200 hour yoga teacher training at Yogaworks, In New York City. Melissa believes the mind, body and soul connection is a sacred one, which should be nurtured and inspired.
Most recently Melissa joined Soul Sparkle Seva where she spent a week in Nicaragua, supporting the Padre Ramos Women's Collective of local women, who are literally rebuilding their lives. During this service retreat she assisted in educating the women and their children on how to love themselves deeply, to become self-sufficient and empower themselves to create a life that makes them both happy and proud. Currently she is still passionately active with Soul Sparkle's efforts in raising money to help build homes and restore a farm that will provide sustainable income for the women and their children.
Melissa has been an educator in the New York City Public School System for 14 years. She is currently in the process of gaining an integrative wellness and life coaching certification and an aromatherapy certification.
